How could anyone knot love a werewolf/vampire marriage of convenience trope? Bride is the perfect book to kick off someone’s omegaverse obsession. It’s simple and straightforward in the best way while also delivering the perfect amount of sexual tension.

First of all, any MC named Misery has just had a shit life and you know it. Her life of being collateral goods and the sheer loneliness of her isolation made my heart hurt. I think we can all relate to not feeling like we fit in really anywhere so I felt for her. I loved her relationship with Serena and the friendships she cultivated with the were. While Misery may have had a miserable life, from it stemmed some of the best humor. She was entertainingly witty and self-deprecating in the best way. I definitely caught myself smiling and chuckling at times, especially during her verbal sparring matches with Lowe.

Lowe is my new favorite book boyfriend and I loved his little thoughts at the beginning of each chapter. He was the sweetest cinnamon roll while still giving “touch her and you die” vibes. He was so kindhearted and willing to go to any length for the ones he loved.

I love a sexy werewolf as much as the next girl, but I do have to say I think that Lowe was a were kinda got forgotten a bit. We’re made very aware that Misery is a vampire, but the were just seemed so human throughout it except for a few scent related things. Oh and the whole knotting thing. We never really delve into the were customs so I’m hoping we get a book two that explores that.

Let’s circle back to the knotting though (I swear I won’t make anymore jokes!). This book had me on the edge of my seat with the sheer amount of sexual tension it packed. Lowe was totally down bad for Misery and Misery was right there with him. I loved how they explored their feelings and inclinations. He never pushed any of his feelings or wants onto her and it was so sweet. In true Hazelwood fashion there was only like one real sex scene and I felt like a book like this one could have benefited from more. The tension was there and does deliver but it just needed more smut.

While a tad bit chaotic and messy at times this was still a fun read. The vibes are there and I loved the paranormal aspect of it. It’s sexy and lighthearted, never taking itself too seriously while also knowing exactly what kind of book it is.
